Canada Life Reinsurance issued Wicklow Rapid Response with a Physio-Control Lifepak AED, supplied by Oxygen Care of Kilmacanogue Co. Wicklow.
The AED unit will be used to support off duty National Ambulance Service (NAS) practitioners who voluntarily respond to cardiac arrests in Co Wicklow. Wicklow Rapid Response, (WWRR) the voluntary pre-hospital emergency critical care service can now expand the number of emergency calls they respond to.

Wicklow Rapid Response proudly supports all tiers of emergency first response in Co Wicklow and hope to be able to provide additional AEDs in the future in addition to maintaining the voluntary critical care doctor service.
Over the past 12 months, WWRR has responded to over 170 calls in the Wicklow region on a voluntarily basis on behalf of the National Ambulance Service.
These include 28 cardiac arrests resulting in 7 survivors.
Off duty Ambulance Practitioners give their time to respond voluntarily to life threatening emergencies in a manner like Community First Responders prior to the ambulance arrival. In rural communities, this early response has been lifesaving for patients in cardiac arrest.
To support, please Text RAPID to 50300 to donate €4.
