A search of the River Barrow for a man missing following a kayaking incident today will resume in the morning.
Earlier today, a man and a juvenile were involved in an incident when a kayak overturned on the river. It happened at Ardreigh Lock, outside Athy, Co. Kildare.
The boy was rescued from the river, however, the man has yet to be located.
Emergency services from counties Kildare, Carlow and Laois responded to the alert along with Rescue 116; the Irish Coast Guard helicopter from Dublin and the Garda Air Support Unit from Baldonnel Aerodrome.
Local gardaí, ambulance and fire crews from Athy stations were quickly on the scene. Paramedics from the National Ambulance Service treated the boy at the scene.
Emergency services were joined in the search by rescue teams from Carlow County Fire Service and Laois Fire & Rescue Service from Carlow Town and Stradbally fire stations respectfully.
Kildare Gardaí confirmed the search will resume in the morning. Civil Defence teams will also be involved in the search operation tomorrow morning.
