A fire has destroyed a well known bar and restaurant in Butlersbridge, Co. Cavan this afternoon. The fire at the Derragarra establishment is believed to have started at around lunchtime today.
It is understood a thatched roof caught fire. Butlersbridge is north of Cavan town.
Three Units of Cavan County Fire Service attended the scene and frantic efforts were made to bring the fire under control.

An aerial platform was also used by the fire service in the operation.
Nobody was injured in the incident and road closures remain in place.
