A hostage situation has ended in Cork following a stand-off between two men and gardaí overnight.
Gardai in Cork were alerted to a barricaded incident at a house on St. Mary’s Road, Cork at around 4.30am. Three males and one female were reported to being the house.

A garda negotiator was requested to intervene in the incident. Local gardai were back-up by armed gardai from the Regional Support Unit from Anglesea Street Garda Station.
Two units of Cork City Fire Brigade were also requested to attend the scene.
Two males, aged in their 20’s were arrested at the scene and brought to Mayfield garda station. A male and female in their 50’s were taken to Cork University Hospital where their injuries are described as minor.
Garda Superintendent Mick Comyns at Mayfield garda station said ‘two young males had a row with the other male and female in the house and took them hostage’.
The incident concluded at around 9.30 this morning.
