A fire which broke out at an apartment complex in Tullow, Co. Carlow this morning has been extinguished.
The fire was reported at around 9.15am at Bridge Street, Tullow.
Fire Crews from Carlow County Fire & Rescue Service, National Ambulance Service and local Gardaí attended the scene. One apartment is believed to have been extensively damaged by fire.
Fire crews from Tullow (CW13) and Hacketstown (CW14) were detained at the scene for a number of hours while gardaí diverted traffic off the main street N81 through the town.
Councillor Will Paton, Carlow County Council also appealed for motorists to avoid the town centre to allow emergency services deal with the incident.
