Three people are in a serious condition in hospital following a two vehicle collision on the outskirts of Wexford town tonight. The collision, between a car and a truck occurred at around 6.45pm in an area known locally as Mountain bar, on the R733, Duncannon road, about 3km from Wexford town.
Initial reports suggested that multiple vehicles were involved in the incident, however, Gardai have confirmed there were just two.
The three males, whose ages are not yet known, were taken to Wexford General Hospital where they remain in a serious condition. The driver of the truck escaped uninjured.
Three Units from Wexford County Fire Service attended the incident with one fire appliance and an Emergency Tender from Wexford town (WX11) and a fire appliance from New Ross (WX14) fire station while two ambulances from the National Ambulance Service are also understood to have attended.
Emergency Services closed the road on arrival, and the road will remain closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision examination of the scene.
