The M9 motorway between Junctions 5 (Tinryland) and Junction 4 (Carlow/Castledermot) northbound will be closed for a number of hours due to a collision.
Carlow Gardaí have confirmed that a single vehicle collision occurred in the past hour. Emergency services are at the scene.
Any early traffic coming from the National Ploughing Championships may be affected by the closure. Gardaí expect the road to be closed until at least 3pm today.
Reporting on the incident, local radio, KCLR96fm understands that at least one person is seriously injured following the collision.
