A major search operation took place in Donegal this afternoon.
A man was taken to Sligo University Hospital after he was rescued from the water at Ballyshannon Estuary.
The rescue operation was launched at around 12 midday today when a man was spotted in the water. The Sligo based Rescue 118 Coastguard helicopter and the Bundoran Lifeboat were launched by the Malin Head Coast Guard.
The Lifeboat crew rescued the man from the water at Seimer Island and transferred him to the Coast Guard helicopter, where he was taken to Sligo University Hospital. His condition is not yet known.
