A hostage situation at Orly Airport in Paris has resulted in a man being shot by security forces, the interior ministry has said.
The airport was evacuated after shots were heard inside the airport. Witnesses say a man stole the gun of a soldier.
A police spokesman tweeted “Ongoing police operation. Do not cross the security perimeter, follow the instructions.”
Witnesses said the man fled into a shop at the airport before being shot dead. The witnesses said no other person was wounded in the incident. S security check of the airport is currently underway to ascertain if the man had an accomplice and to ensure that the dead man was not wearing an explosive belt.
