Six firefighters travelling from Dublin to Boston for a 9/11 memorial event were on a high after being upgraded to a Business Class flight.
Delta Air Lines learned of the purpose of the journey being made by the six Irish firefighters and in a show of support, Delta upgraded them to Business Class.
A team of six firefighters from Donegal made the journey across the Atlantic to participate in the 2026 ‘Ride for Resilience’ event and to honour the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11, and all those first responders who have lost their lives or continue to live with the consequences of that day.

The Donegal Firefighters Association (DFA) were overwhelmed when their journey was upgraded by Delta Air Lines.
DFA said “We are genuinely humbled and incredibly grateful to Delta Air Lines for an extraordinary gesture of kindness towards our six Donegal riders. In an incredible show of support, our entire six-person team was upgraded to Business Class for our journey from Dublin to Boston.”

“To say we were blown away would be an understatement. The kindness and generosity shown to us by Delta has been truly humbling. For Delta to recognise and support what we are undertaking in such an incredibly generous way is something we will never forget.” The Donegal Firefighters took time to thank the airline for their generosity and said he airline helped them begin a very special journey in a way none of them could ever have imagined.
