A major search operation continues in the Irish Sea for a missing crewman from a ferry.
The alarm was raised at 9pm last night when a man was reported missing from a ferry on passage from Dublin to Holyhead.
A widescale multi-agency search operation was launched involving the Irish Coast Guard, HM Coastguard, RNLI and North Wales Police.
The Irish Coast Guard’s Rescue 116 and Rescue 117 and the Irish Air Corps are involved in the joint search with HM Coastguard Rescue helicopter from Caernarfon, the Coast Guard fixed-wing aircraft, RNLI crews from Holyhead, Porthdynllaen, Moelfre and the North Wales Police for port and vessel searches.
Last nights wide scale air and sea search, coordinated by the HM Coastguard covered over 1,000 square nautical miles. Overflights are taking place during the day in the latest calculated search areas.
