London Fire Brigade have said the cause of a gas explosion at a car park basement earlier this week was due to a fault within the high voltage supply.
Twenty people were evacuated from their homes following a gas explosion which took place at around 3.15pm at a basement of a car park on Kings Road, Chelsea.>
London Fire Brigade responded with 25 firefighters and four fire appliances from Kensington, Soho, Battersea and Chelsea fire stations attended the scene.
According to LFB, ‘approximately half of an electrical sub-station in the basement car park was damaged by the fire. Around 20 people left the neighbouring properties as a precaution. There were no reports of any injuries.’
The cause of the fire was accidental due to a fault within the high voltage power supply.
