The funeral of Coast Guard Pilot Captain Dara Fitzpatrick will take place this morning. Captain Fitzpatrick died when the Coastguard Rescue 116 helicopter crashed off the Mayo coast on Tuesday.
Dara’s funeral Mass will take place in Glencullen, at 11am, followed by cremation at Mount Jerome Crematorium.
Gardaí are advising motorists that traffic restrictions will be in place from 10am to 1pm tomorrow in the Glencullen area. Through traffic from Johnny Fox’s licensed premises to the Enniskerry Rd at Kilternan will be diverted at Fox’s. Traffic will be prevented from travelling from Fox’s to the Enniskerry Rd. Access will be maintained in the opposite direction and local access will also be maintained.
President Michael D Higgins will attend the funeral.
Hundreds of members from the emergency, search and rescue and voluntary services are expected to attend the funeral.
