Four people, including three children have died following an apartment fire in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 this morning. Gardaí and fire services were alerted to the fire shortly before 2.30am at Cluainin Cronan, Clondalkin.
Five people were in the apartment at the time of the fire, two adult females and three children (two females & one male)
A 27 year old female and two female children (2yrs & 3 yrs) were taken to Tallaght Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. An adult female in her 30s was taken to St James Hospital and a 4 year old boy was taken to Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin, their condition is described as critical.
A third child died later this evening in hospital.
Seven residents of nearby apartments have been evacuated.
Four units of Dublin Fire Brigade from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn attended the scene. The fire was extinguished at 3.46am.
The scene is sealed off and a technical examination of the area will take place later today
