Cork’s EMS event is quickly gathering pace

Learning with Leisure will be one of the main focal points of this year’s EMS Gathering in Cork, with experts from Canada, Wisconsin US and the UK as keynote speakers and instructors.

A mixture of scenarios and exercises will be staged over the 3-day event, which takes place from Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13th September in Cork City.

EMS Gathering is always current and topical, and this year, the ‘Walking Tour’ will discuss addiction, mental health and homelessness issues which can challenge EMS personnel and providers. The ‘Learning with Leisure’ approach ensures there is something to suit everyone’s taste.

Expert exponents will go through the pre-hospital use of POCUS and in the workshops, the National Ambulance Service will join Cork Fire Brigade with ATACC educators and actors to provide high fidelity simulation to facilitate a discussion around various entrapment and extrication challenges. Experiences as well as tips and tricks from participants around the world will be shared and discussed.

Another workshop is the ‘Tour de Force of Emergency Care Skills’. This workshop will give delegates the opportunity to practice skills called on rarely including cricothyroidotomy, surgical airway, Suction Assisted Laryngoscopy Airway Decontamination (SALAD), and hemorrhage control techniques with world class educators.

Crew Resource Management and Wellness at Work are also important aspects of the event.

Emergency Medical Service personnel are encouraged to strengthen and share their Crew Resource Management (CRM) skills at workshops which are facilitated by trained experts. Nobody understands or appreciates more, than the EMS, about the importance of CRM in putting order on chaos through team work and communication.

The Wellness at Work workshop teaches sensible and clever ways to mitigate the stresses of your day-to-day existence to optimize your wellness, happiness and productivity.

The EMG Gathering team have been very active and proactive over the past few weeks promoting the event and are very active on their social media platforms in doing so.
