He was brought to the Mercy University Hospital for treatment.

Senior Officers at Cork City Fire Brigade have condemned the attack on firefighters.

Speaking to Cork’s Red FM, Victor Shine, Third Officer at Cork City Fire Brigade said “it’s not acceptable to have fire crews injured, to have their families going through the stress of people going into work and not knowing whether they will come back injured or not injured as a result of non-fire brigade activities. Our job is hazardous, and we are going into hazardous situations and we take all those precautions but for somebody to take advantage of our fire crews dealing with emergency situations and throwing missiles at them is absolutely not acceptable.”
