Work is to commence on the construction of a new fire station at Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny next week.
Contracts were signed recently between Kilkenny County Council and appointed contractors, McStan Construction Ltd, who succeeded in the tender process to build the new station. The project will cost €1.1milion.
The site for the new fire station will be at the Ring road on council owned property.
Graiguenamanagh’s current station KK17, is located on High Street in the town and has a crew of nine. Its fire-ground covers an area of 251km sq and firefighters serve a population of 7,000 citizens.

The project consists of a fully functional fire station including all structures and architectural elements. Building of the new two-bay station is expected to last about 10 months.
