A joint initiative between An Garda Síochána and WebWise took place at a secondary school in Dublin this week, to launch a new Garda schools programme on CoCo’s Law.
“A message sent in anger, an image shared without thinking, or a joke that goes too far can have lasting consequences. We want you as students to pause, reflect, and consider how your choices might affect someone else.” These were the words of Assistant Commissioner Catharina Gunne at the launch of the new Garda Schools Programme lesson on Coco’s Law at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School in Drimnagh, Co. Dublin.
The lesson was officially launched by Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton TD, Assistant Commissioner Catharina Gunne, and Jackie Fox, mother of ‘Coco’ Nicole Fox.
Developed in partnership with Webwise, the lesson is now available to be delivered in secondary schools nationwide. For further info, contact your local Garda station or the Garda Community Relations Bureau. Gardaí also advise anyone who has been affected by threatening or offensive communications, or the sharing of intimate images, or are experiencing it at present, to contact them either in person at any Garda Station or by phone.
