Search and Rescue Drones and a K-9 Unit joined a large search today on the river Shannon, south of Athlone on the Roscommon/Westmeath border.
Civil Defence teams from counties Roscommon and Westmeath were joined by civil defence drone units from Cavan and Galway and the K-9 unit from Dublin Civil Defence.

Drones were used to search some areas which proved difficult to reach due to floods and the search dog, Max, was used along the river from one of the boats during the search. Teams are searching for a man missing from Athlone.
Volunteers will continue the search tomorrow.

Roscommon Civil Defence Officer Ray Dunne has thanks those who gave time for the search in cold and wet conditions and also thanks the assisting civil defence units from Cavan, Galway and Dublin.
