The Ambulance base which serves Carlow Town and surrounding areas is expected close next Monday as the premises is deemed ‘completely unfit’ for purpose.
EmergencyTimes.ie understands that the premises is suffering from a number of issues such as sewage blockages, lack of heating or hot water and other necessary requirements, which according to a source, the Health & Safety Authority has deemed the premises ‘completely unfit for purpose’.

According to local TD Pat Deering, ambulance staff will now have to operate out of the Kilkenny base which raises huge concerns about response times for Carlow medical emergencies.
Meanwhile, Carlow Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor spoke to local radio KCLR96FM and said ‘it’s a disgrace that it’s been neglected for so long and it’s now been condemned by health and safety authorities’.
