Gardai in Newbridge, Co. Kildare are to host an ‘Open Day’ today to coincide with the annual JuneFest festival in the town.
Superintendent Martin Walker and Sergeant Brian Jacob are leading the open day which is expected to attract hundreds of visitors.

Many of the operational, support and specialist services of An Garda Síochána and other services are expected to showcase at the open day, which begins at 1pm.
The Garda Mounted Unit, RSU vehicles and crew, the garda traffic corps, Traffic Motorcyclist and Garda Pedal Cyclists will be on display along with members of the Forensic Science Laboratory, garda ballistics, drugs unit and newly appointed probationers to the Kildare District. The Garda mobile command vehicle will also be in attendance.

Other service vehicles on show today will be Fire Tenders from Newbridge Fire Station, an Ambulance from HSE, a Mohag armoured car from Defence Forces and the Kildare Road Safety promotions unit from Kildare County Council.
The Garda Air Support Unit will also provide two fly-overs.

A Flea Circus will take place at the rear of the garda station for small children. On the Main Street the Main Parade which commences at 2pm will be led by the Garda Horses. It will be floats and entertainers from ARTASTIC (A local Machnas group), The Patrician Boys Band and The Philippine Dancers. While this is taking place a cookery demonstration will be held by Celebrity Chef Kevin Dundon.
Tanaiste and Minister For Justice, Frances Fitzgerald TD is to attend the event.
