Carlow Gardaí renew appeal following serious assault

Gardaí in Carlow have renewed their appeal for information in relation to the discovery of an unconscious, injured woman in her 50’s.

Investigating gardaí are particularly anxious to speak to a male and a female couple who were walking in the area between 2am and 5am on Sunday morning.

The woman who was seriously injured was discovered unconscious on the grounds at Pollerton Castle, Pollerton Road, Carlow yesterday afternoon.

The woman was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny where she remains in a serious condition. Gardaí carried out a technical examination of the scene.

In addition, Gardaí are appealing to any drivers of vehicles that may have travelled these roads between the above times and have footage from Dash Cams to contact them at Carlow Garda Station on 059-9136620, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí in Carlow are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of an unconscious and injured woman in her 50’s who was found on the grounds at Pollerton Castle, Pollerton Road, Carlow early this afternoon

Gardaí were alerted to the injured woman’s discovery, whose injuries are being described as serious

The woman was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny where she remains in a serious condition. The scene was preserved for a technical examination.

Gardaí wish to appeal for witnesses and to anyone who travelled on Staplestown Rd, St Patricks Avenue or Pollerton Road between the hours of 2am and 5am this morning to contact them.

In addition, Gardaí are appealing to any drivers of vehicles that may have travelled these roads between the above times and have footage from Dash Cams to contact them at Carlow Garda Station on 059-9136620, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Teen arrested after hijacking ambulance in Dublin

A teenager was arrested this morning after attempting to hijack an emergency ambulance in Dublin.

The ambulance was attending an incident at Mountjoy Street in the city when the incident happened at around 8.45am. The teenage male crashed the ambulance after driving it a short distance before being restrained and detained by the crew until gardaí arrived.

The emergency ambulance is D114, a Dublin Fire Brigade ambulance based at Tara Street station and the crew may have been treating a patient in the back of the emergency vehicle when the incident began.

The Garda Armed Support Unit attended the scene.

The male was arrested at the scene and taken to Mountjoy Garda Station where he was charged with ‘unauthorised taking of a vehicle’. He has since been release from garda custody.
